A Taste of My Books

Curious what my books are actually like? Here’s a little taste of each one — a few lines to see if my voice is for you. If something makes you smile, or nod, or wince in recognition, that book will probably feel like home.

Sex and The Shy Girl

The world we live in is pretty crazy. And maybe nowhere is it crazier than in its attitude to sex, bodies, pleasure, and orgasms. My point of view is different. And it’s pretty simple! We have these bodies — let’s enjoy them.

Overeating and The Shy Girl

Why couldn’t it be smoking? Or alcohol? Or even hard drugs? Then you could just stop. But food? You can never get away from this. Well, unless you became a breatharian! Unfortunately, I had always been better at the eating bit than the non-eating bit.

Money and The Shy Girl

What the f**k? I couldn’t believe my eyes. The numbers were far from what they ‘should’ be. Only the day before, I’d been congratulating myself — like the self-development guru who proclaims ‘my self-worth is not defined by my bank account, I choose happiness!’ So how could it be that twelve hours later, the numbers looked so different? And why is it easier to be ‘happy no matter what your bank balance is’ when your bank balance is high?

Montenegro the Beautiful

Who knew that what seemed like a random, chaotic, even foolish choice — to sell my house in the North of England in late 2019 — would turn out to be the best decision I could have made? I sensed something, and I had the guts to act on it.

Albania the Crazy

As I walk toward the centre of town, the vibe changes. The noise grows. These clever Albanians are making the most of the COVID-induced lull in tourism to re-construct the entire city centre. It’s loud, inconvenient, and ugly. The construction stretches on and on; it takes half an hour just to cross. The whole heart of the town is affected.
